If I gave it any thought, I'd probably agree that long-form TV movies are less well served by the Conan Doyle material, certainly in the case of the Brett stuff: the old problem about short stories...

"The Illustrious Client" is one of my favorites. Anthony Valentine gives a very low-key performance as the villainous Baron Gruner. Probably the best of the episodes under the Casebook banner.

BTW, one of my local PBS stations is rerunning the series, and the tranfers are remarkably better and clearer than I ever remember seeing them.
